Robot con Kinect
In one of the posts where I explained the how Kinect works, I said that wouldn't be strange that it will be use to build robots. Now are emerging the first robotic machines that someday will rebel and will begin to kill humans. Here I talk about some of them. Fill your mind with "Robots, Kinect and the SLAM problem"

Kinect
Microsoft wants that we can play with the Xbox 360 moving us in front of the screen. For that have spend hundreds of millions of dollars in develop a device to realize the recognition and the tracking, not only of a complete person but several ones, including also 3D information, its name is Kinect. In this post you will discover how works the hardware and the artificial intelligence algorithms that uses. Follow discovering "Kinect: How works its 3D body tracking"

Cover of the movie The Matrix
The hypothesis of that we are in a universe simulated by big supercomputer can't be proven because, if true, never will could see outside of the simulation, although is a funny mental experiment do speculation about this. Finish reading "How would be our universe if it would be generated by Matrix?"

CAPTCHA
The web pages increasingly receive more SPAM of programs that automatically fill the forms of the webs. To avoid it, appears the annoying CAPTCHA ("Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart"). A CAPTCHA consist in a test that has to pass the person that is filling the form, to demonstrate that is a human. But, are there any test that can surpass a human and not a machine? Read all about of "Could the CAPTCHA of the future distinguish a human from a machine?"

Alan Turing
The same as others disciplines as mathematics, the informatics don't have Nobel prize. So a equivalent award, had to be invented in computer science, called Turing prize, in honor to Alan Turing, that did important contributions to the computer science in the beginning of it. Read the rest of "Turing prize (the Nobel of the computer science)"

Robocup 2010 Logo
Although I hate soccer (because of the fanaticism that generate and the astronomical amounts of money that move that we could invest at investigation), how the next Sunday it's the world championship final, I'm going to talk about soccer with robots.
The Robocup is the robot soccer competition most important of the world. The last was made in Singapore and end at the past June 25. Here you can see some videos, inform yourself about the competitions and know the last news. Enter into "Soccer results of the Robocup 2010"

Virtual singer Miku Hatsume
The voice synthesizers are those programs as Loquendo, which provide of human voice to the machine. Although the majority of them have a voice very robotic, without intonation and feelings, but we can understand it. Here you see roughly how is imitated the human voice in a computer and because is so difficult achieve a voice equal to the human one. Learn more about "How works the voice synthesizers?"

Fractal of the Mandelbrot set
The fractal geometry, makes reference to geometrical objects fractured, is a mathematical tool very powerful to represent in a computer and, with fidelity, structures that we can find, either in the nature or some things created by the man. Furthermore allows realize simulations more accurate of all kind of natural phenomenons. Also it's applied, in certain situations, to resolve all kind of problems. Would you like know how are made? Signal warning of radiactivity
The processors aren't inmune to the radiactivity. This it produces soft errors, that are errors in the signals of its circuits, produced by the noise that generates the radiation on it. The consequences of the radiation over the machines aren't so devastating as over the human, because in the worst case we can reboot the machine, but the things that could do the machines affected by radiation to the humans, it could be dangerous.
